Privacy Policy
Last updated August 11, 2026
This policy explains what Clipppy collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Clipppy is a private tool — there's no public feed, no advertising, and we don't sell your data.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your name and email address, and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store passwords in plain text). If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive basic profile information from that provider instead of a password.
Content you save
We store the collections, links, images, files, notes, and other content you add, along with related details like tags, titles, and who you've shared a collection with.
Technical data
Like most web services, our infrastructure processes basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) as needed to operate, secure, and debug the Service.
Billing information
If you purchase Plus, Paddle collects and processes your payment details as our Merchant of Record. Clipppy does not receive or store your full card number. We receive identifiers and subscription details needed to activate and manage your plan, such as payment status, billing period, and renewal or cancellation dates.
Anonymous usage analytics
We use Umami to understand aggregate traffic and whether broad product features are useful. It records information such as normalized page paths, referrers, browser and device type, approximate country, and coarse events like completing signup, creating a collection, or finishing an import. Umami does not use analytics cookies or browser fingerprinting, and Clipppy respects your browser's Do Not Track setting.
We do not send Umami your account ID, email address, saved URLs, private page titles, collection or item identifiers, filenames, or content you create. Dynamic route identifiers are replaced with generic placeholders, and URL query strings and fragments are excluded before analytics data is sent.
We also calculate aggregate product-health metrics directly from Clipppy's own database, such as how many accounts have saved an item or were active during a period. These internal reports do not expose the contents of individual accounts.
How we use your information
- to provide and operate Clipppy and store your content;
- to authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- to send transactional email — password resets, email verification, and account notices;
- to activate, manage, and support paid subscriptions;
- to diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
We do not use your content to train advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data.
Cookies
Clipppy uses only essential cookies — primarily a session cookie that keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, so there's no consent banner to click through.
Browser extension
The Clipppy browser extension saves web content to your account. It sends data only when you ask it to save something — there is no background collection, and it does not record the pages you visit.
When you save, the extension sends to Clipppy only what that save consists of:
- the address and title of the page, link, or image you chose to save;
- the text you highlighted, if you saved a selection;
- a screenshot of the page, when you save the tab you're on, so the clip still looks right if the original page later changes.
It also stores three preferences in your browser's extension storage: which Clipppy address to save to, whether the optional image-hover button is switched on, and the last collection you saved into. These stay in your browser.
The extension contains no analytics or tracking of any kind, and sends data to no one but Clipppy. It never handles your password — saves ride the Clipppy session your browser already has.
The optional image-hover button is the only feature that needs access to other websites, and it is off unless you turn it on. While it's on, it draws a “Clip it” button on images you point at, and reads an image's address only when you click that button. It does not read page content. Turning it off removes that access.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run Clipppy. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Neon — hosts our database (your account and content records);
- Cloudflare R2 — stores your uploaded files and images;
- Vercel — hosts and serves the application;
- Resend — delivers our transactional email;
- Umami — provides cookie-free, aggregate website and product analytics;
- Paddle — processes paid orders, tax, receipts, and subscription billing as Merchant of Record;
- Google / GitHub — only if you choose to sign in with them.
Sharing
Your content is private by default. It's visible to others only when you explicitly share a collection or invite someone to a workspace. We don't share your personal information with third parties except the service providers above, or where required by law.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings; doing so removes your collections and the files you uploaded. You can also export a full copy of your data as a ZIP before you leave.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Clipppy builds several of these in directly — you can change your email, export your data, and delete your account from your settings. For anything else, contact us at hello@clipppy.com.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including hashed passwords, authorized file access, and encrypted connections. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.
Children
Clipppy isn't directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
